Plasma 1080p

I have a great 50" 720p Plasma. It looks fantastic with HD material from Sky HD and otehr sources . Even scaled DVDs over HDMI look great.
But it's not 1080p.
Should I sell my plasma (which will never get as much back as you expect :-( ) to get a 1080p, or should I wait until I need to change the TV anyway.
