Do I Need HDTV

I have a decent 32" widescreen set at the moment, but my wife wants a new flat screen to look better in the room. I know, I shouldn't complain that my wife wants me to get a new TV :-)
But - do I need a TV with HDTV or not? I have normal Sky TV and the normal channels from the ariel so I don't have any HDTV channels.
Is it cheaper to buy a LCD without HDTV or are they all standard nowadays?

You'll be hard pressed to find a flat panel that doesn't do HD to be honest. There were some available a while ago from Sharp I think (look for 576p in the product details) which were aimed at people with Sky and/Or Freeview, but didn't want to go HD.
I would go with HD if I were you though. You might not want to pay for Sky HD, but HD over the airwaves - terrestrial HD, like over FreeView won't be far off.
You'd be gutted if you bought a TV that couldn't show it properly.
I might be selling my Plasma... see my other message... ;-)
